Who Is The Security Dude - A Brief bio
Keith Stocks is a Vice President leading the Global Third Party Cybersecurity Risk Management Program at State Street Corporation.
Previously he assisted in founding the Information Risk Management area for MUFG, Union Bank. He was responsible for project and third-party information risk assessments.
Prior to this position, Keith was the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ). He retired from that position in February of 2017. Keith was responsible for the strategic information security vision and execution for BCBSAZ. Keith joined BCBSAZ in 2009 from Jefferson Wells Internationals to revitalize the information security program. While at BCBSAZ, Keith deployed a defense in depth protection profile to secure the environment from the perimeter to the core. Keith’s reputation for keeping cost down while maintaining the protection high; drove cost effective solutions with a return on customer dollars. His projects included implementation of multiple programs to include: a Business Associate Risk Assessment Program based on ISO27001, an Identity Management System, Web Filtering and DLP Programs, Mobile Device Management and Advanced Persistence Threat.
While at Jefferson Wells International, Keith was an Engagement Manager in Seattle Washington. At Jefferson Wells, Keith was a consultant performing enterprise risk assessments, technical privacy assessments, and network penetration tests. He assisted companies in building security models based on ISO standards. His clients stretched from Alaska to California.
Prior to Jefferson Wells, Keith worked at Washington Mutual Bank where he completed his service as the Vice President, Vendor Security Assurance Services. While there, Keith developed a Vendor Security Assurance Program to ensure compliance with the FDIC and OTS. His program successfully underwent and excelled through multiple examinations. During his tenure, he became a founding member of the FS-ISAC and assisted in the establishment of the banks Vendor Outsourcing Council.
Keith retired from the Air Force in 2000 as a Master Sergeant after completing a career as an Air Force Security Policeman. His career included various stateside and overseas assignments. His specialties included computer systems security, information security, and tactical protection.
Keith holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Resources and Information Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. His civilian certifications include Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified CISO (C/CISO), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). His military certifications include DOD Security Specialist, DOD Information Security Specialist, DISA Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), and NSA Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO). He is an active member of Infragard. Keith participates in various security organizations around Phoenix and serves on the Interface Council.
